NOTICE: Please read the Privacy Policy below, which is legally binding. By visiting, viewing or using this website you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy, Disclaimer and Terms and Conditions.
The term “you” used below refers to any visitor, viewer or user of the website. The term “I/me/my” used below refers to Caroline, based in the UK, the owner of the website www.trytobeagoodone.com and creator of the website contents.
Who am I
Try to be a good one operates the website (address: https://www.trytobeagoodone.com) and is committed to safeguarding and protecting the privacy of its visitors. The following information is posted to help you understand what private information is collected, how your personal data that you provide is used and how I use cookies on this website.
Types of private information collected
In running and maintaining this website, like many website operators, I may collect and process the following data about you:
- Using cookies when you visit this website
Cookies provide information regarding the computer used by a visitor. Cookies may be used where appropriate to gather information on how you interact with the website in order to assist me in improving it. Such information may include your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.
It is standard practice to use cookies to make your experience better when using a website.
I may gather information about your general internet use by using the cookie. Where used, these cookies are downloaded to your computer and stored on the computer’s hard drive. Such information will not identify you personally; it is statistical data which does not identify any personal details whatsoever.
Advertisers may also use cookies, over which I have no control. Such cookies (if used) would be downloaded once you click on advertisements on the website.
In accordance with this Privacy Policy and this Cookie Policy, you have the right to accept or reject cookies. Strictly necessary cookies may not be rejected since they are essential to enable you to browse the website and use its features. Should you reject cookies, you will still be able to use the website although certain features and functionalities may not be available to you and/or certain areas may be restricted.
In addition to what it is indicated within this Policy, you can manage preferences for cookies directly from within your own browser and prevent – for example – third parties from installing cookies. Through browser preferences, it is also possible to delete cookies installed in the past, including the cookies that may have saved the initial consent for the installation of cookies by this website.
You can find information about how to manage cookies in the most commonly used browsers (e.g. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Internet Explorer) on the website of the browser of choice.
With regard to cookies installed by third parties, users can manage their preferences and withdrawal of their consent by clicking the related opt-out link (if provided), by using the means provided in the third party’s privacy policy, or by contacting the third party.
In addition, I may use third party services such as Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyse this data.
- When you post a blog comment
When visitors leave comments on the website I collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If the visitor uploads images to the website, it should be avoided to upload images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you leave a comment on the website you may opt-in to save your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
- When you use the contact form
When visitors use the contact form, the full name, email address and message content will be collected.
- When you subscribe to receive the newsletter
I would use your email address to inform you of future posts and updates to the website, services or goods and products. You will only receive these emails if you directly sign up by entering your email address and press the ‘subscribe to the newsletter’ button on the website.
This information is not shared with third parties and you can unsubscribe at any time via email.
- Social media information
If you access my social media accounts via my website, I will also collect information the social media networks give me. Depending on the social media network, this can include your username, name, email address, friends list, demographic data and more.
Why I need it
I would need to know the website’s statistic data (such as website traffic, visitor engagement, most viewed posts etc) and your basic personal data so that I can provide you with the service/product and news you have requested and privately respond to your emails. I will not collect any data that I do not need in order to provide and oversee the requests.
Third party links
On occasion I include links to third parties. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. Where I provide a link it does not mean that I endorse or approve that site’s notice towards visitor privacy. You should review their privacy notice before sending them any personal data.
These linked websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For visitors that subscribed to the newsletters, your information I use for marketing purposes will be kept until you notify me that you no longer wish to receive this information.
For visitors that privately messaged me, I am required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name and email address) for a minimum of 6 years after which time it will be destroyed.
What rights you have over your data
You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Users have the right to withdraw consent where they have previously given their consent to the processing of their personal data.
If you have subscribed to the newsletter, sent a private message or have left post comment(s), you can, at any point, request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided me. You can also request that I correct or erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
If you wish to raise a complaint on how I have handled your personal data, you can contact me directly and I will investigate the matter.
If you are not satisfied with my response or believe I am processing your personal data not in accordance with the law you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Where your data is sent
For the purpose of running this website, your data is processed by myself, Caroline based in the UK. To operate the website, I work with the following third parties:
- Bluehost for hosting the website
- Mailchimp for sending out the newsletters
- Automated spam detection service to check visitor comments
- Yoast SEO for the website analytics
- Contact Form 7 and Flamingo to handle messages and contact details through the contact form
Any third party shall not have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so.
Private Information Security
I do my utmost to keep your private information secure and safe and ensure that my server hosts are secure and fully accredited. Most of your personal information is encrypted and is therefore protected from being accessed by outside users. However, data leaks and malicious attacks do happen and unfortunately, I cannot be responsible for any illegal breaches that may occur. Please understand that while I do my best to protect your data, providing your personal information is at your own risk.
Ability to decline to provide personal information
You can, of course, decline to disclosure your personal information to me. However, the failure to provide me with pertinent information may limit your ability to fully benefit from the Try to be a good one website and all of its offerings.
Additional questions
If you have questions regarding this privacy policy, please feel free to contact me and I will respond to your privacy policy questions as soon as possible.

This privacy policy was last updated on 7 November 2023 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page.
I reserve the right to update or change the Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the website after I post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.
If I adjust any material to this Privacy Policy, I will notify you either through the email address you have provided me when signing up to the newsletter, or by placing a prominent notice on the website.
