2024 February Half Term: Activities for Kids in London
How is it already or almost February half term?! This year it seems to spread from February 12th to 23rd depending on the area. I gathered a list of activities, indoors and outdoors, to keep your little ones entertained during the break from school. Fortunately, the capital city is bursting with a plethora of exciting activities and attractions that are sure to captivate children of all ages, some more than others. Unfortunately, most of the family-friendly half term activities at the London Museums seem to all cover the first week of half term 12th to 17th only. But still, there are plenty of other activities available for the not so lucky ones to have their school break the second week. From interactive museums to outdoor adventures, London offers a diverse array of experiences guaranteed to create lasting memories. Here’s a roundup of some fantastic activities to explore with your kids this February half term. Some of the popular activities may be sold out, why not already book some Easter holiday fun!

INDOOR ACTIVITIES
Bubble Planet – Wembley

Disney100: the exhibition- Excel London
Embark on a magical journey through the enchanting world of Disney at the Disney100 exhibition, located at Excel London—a must-visit destination during February half term! Especially as the exhibition has now been extended until 30 April 2024. So if not visiting during this half term, it’s something to keep in mind for the Easter holidays. I highly recommend fitting the IFS cable car ride before or after the exhibition to travel from/to the 02 from/to Excel London, maybe to have some food or visit the 02 outlet, (or simply to experience the 10 mins cable ride) for an amazing view of the Thames, Canary Wharf and more.

Legoland Mini golf – WINDSOR

If you are a Legoland obsessed and can’t wait for the warmer season to come around quick enough for Legoland to reopen, make sure to take your family on a delightful adventure to Legoland Windsor’s indoor Mini Golf during February half term. Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Windsor, this miniature golf course offers a whimsical journey through enchanting landscapes and iconic LEGO-themed obstacles.

SKY GARDEN – The City of london – free activity

Tip: it can be quite difficult to get hold of tickets, best is to try getting tickets on Monday mornings when free tickets are released three weeks in advance for that week only. Check on March 11th or March 18th to hopefully secure some tickets for the Easter holidays.
Arts IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES – East / South London
Unleash your child’s creativity with a range of arts immersive experiences offered at various venues across London. There are so many to choose from. Here are a few:

- The Art of the Brick: LEGO Art: This exhibition only starts in March and ends on May 12th so something to consider for the Easter holidays. For fans of the wizarding world, a visit to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is an absolute must. Explore the Wonder of Museums – AcroSS lONDON – free activity
London boasts an impressive array of museums, many of which offer interactive exhibits specifically designed for children during half term.
- The Natural History Museum, with its awe-inspiring dinosaur skeletons and interactive displays, is always a hit with young visitors. Some special half term activities and tours are available; some of them are free of charge. 📍South Kensington
- The Science Museum offers hands-on experiments and workshops that are both educational and entertaining. The Wonderlab is definitely wonder-ful and must do for little explorers with curious minds. Their IMAX offers beautiful 3D documentaries about our planet whilst raising climate awareness and are usually narrated by a famous actor. The Power Up is a gaming experience, featuring the very best video games and consoles from the past 50 years to play against friends in multiplayer showdowns. Visit the science museum for many more activities such as the Power of Music experience. 📍South Kensington
- The Museum of London is currently closed to move location and will reopen in 2026.
- The British Museum, with its two million years of human history, art and culture. Travel through the different galleries and learn about the Roman Empire, have a glimpse of the famous Rosetta Stone or the statue of Ramessess II and more. Give it a visit this half term for special Roman-themed activities. 📍Russell Square
- The London Transport Museum, with its 200 years of London and its transport history, and the stories of the people who have travelled and worked in the city. Give it a visit this half term for some family fun for the special event “Women at work” celebrating 50 years of London Transport first recruiting women as bus drivers in 1974. 📍Covent Garden
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Light festival at Battersea Power Station – free activity
Explore seven light art installations from 25th January to 25th February 2024 from British and international artists, a number of which are making their UK or London debut. From a giant diamond and illuminated butterflies, to a playable light piano and cycling light battle, there is lots to explore! The installations will be lit daily from 8am – 11pm. There is also a whole host of family-friendly workshops, free face painting and live entertainment and music throughout the festival. Worshops can be booked through the Battersea website.
Kew Gardens Orchid Festival – Richmond

Visiting Kew Gardens promises a delightful blend of nature, exploration, and discovery; a literal breath of fresh air. From the iconic Palm House to the grand treetop walkway, Kew Gardens offers a captivating array of attractions to explore, each offering opportunities for hands-on learning and adventure. Youngsters can embark on nature trails, enjoy the children’s garden, marvel at exotic plant species, and have a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
This half term, families visiting Kew Gardens can also immerse themselves in the vibrant beauty of the annual Orchid Festival, this year, inspired by the beauty of Madagascar.
The Orchid Festival showcases an array of stunning orchid displays, exotic varieties of orchids from around the world, each more breathtaking than the last.
